ACKU Belt Examinations
The goal of ACKU students is to achieve ACKU black belt.
Each belt level examination has three components, which are formal exercise, basics and partnerwork.
These components are outlined in the ACKU handbooks. ACKU has examination handbooks available at all ACKU clubs for students to purchase.
Each ACKU club is led by a qualified ACKU operating instructor. They can explain and demonstrate formal exercises, basics and partnerwork. If you have any questions, please ask your instructor for clarification. Karate is very enjoyable once students understand the purpose of the art. ACKU students are encouraged to train at all the ACKU clubs for more practice.
When a student is ready to test for a belt level, they turn in their examination form and payment at their ACKU club.
Denny Island Update
Our international dojo on Denny Island, in British Columbia, is nearing completion. We are now fillling, sanding and painting the walls. This 3000 square foot training facility is located steps from the ocean. The main level has a 900 square foot training area, plus a kitchen and living room. The second level has a large master bedroom and computer/hobby room, and the third level also has two bedrooms. All finishing is "green" with low VOC paints and natural materials. The beautiful hand crafted cedar beams in the dojo were made from trees that were felled on the site.
The helicopter landing pad is waiting for final approval and, the first cottage is almost completed!
The ACKU headquarters has the only legally approved sewer/septic system on the island.
