Tofino Family Karate Camp    Date July 21-25, 2008 Karate Camp    Setting Tofino, British Columbia    Karate on the Beach ACKU has offered summer karate camps to students for the past twenty eight years. For the last fourteen years, lucky ACKU students have made the trip to Tofino, British Columbia and trained on the world famous Wickaninnish Beach, located in the pristine Pacific Rim National Park.  Each morning, we meet at 10:00 am and warm up.  We then enjoy traditional ACKU karate training with the Chief Instructor and the senior instructors.    Clean, soft sand. Sounds of the ocean. Fresh air. Spectacular scenery. Please note all participants wear the regulation ACKU uniform.   Daily Activities We are usually finished karate training by noon, and spend the afternoons walking on the magnificent beaches, whale watching, fishing, surfing, shopping, enjoying the world class restaurants, etc. Other optional activities include evening socializing by the fire so bring your guitars, card games and snacks!   Local Accommodations Many of our members camp at the Bella Pacifica Campground. This fantastic campground fills up fast, and we make our reservations very early. Reservations may be made (starting October 1, 2007) by calling 1-250-725-3400. You will be asked how many people are in your group, and what type of site you require. A two-night deposit using either Visa or MasterCard is required. Participants also stay in several of the excellent local B & B's or hotel/motels. One hotel we like is the Tin Wis.    Other Details If you have other family members who come along, but do not train karate, they are most welcome to just "hang around" near us and enjoy the beach while we train, and join us for all our other activities. This camp is designed as a family activity, and, a parent or legal guardian must accompany participants under the age of 18. This is a great vacation in a magnificent part of the world, which offers something for everyone in the family.   Camp Fee Your fee of $69.99+gst (each participant) covers karate beach training (weather permitting) with Sensei Bray and the ACKU Instructors.
